The climb had already been nerve-racking enough. Thinking about whether Heaven Pillar Peak might break made my whole mentality collapse.
Still, I comforted both myself and Ye Jinghong. "Maybe our luck won't really be that bad this time."
Ye Jinghong glanced at me. "I don't care. Even if I die, I'll die with you. That's much better than being with that little maid."
I shook my head. "There's no need to talk about life and death. At least, I won't die here."
"Why are you so confident?"
I did not answer Ye Jinghong's question. The reason I dared to be confident was that I knew I was still in the Void Realm. Everything I experienced here was predetermined. This was Guiguzi's territory, and he was surely behind all of this. No matter how dangerous it became, I would ultimately survive. He would not let me die.
Back then, Guiguzi had given me a choice as well: leave the Void Realm, or stay and uncover the truth about certain people and things. I chose the latter.
Had I chosen the former, I would probably have returned to my own world long ago.
I had always been making choices, and I did not know whether those choices would ultimately prove right or wrong. In any case, I would not regret them. Regret was useless. Whenever people chose one thing, they lost another, so choosing also meant giving something up.
But did we have a choice now?
Could we possibly climb back down?
Even if we really wanted to go back, it would not be easy.
Besides, what would going back accomplish? Would we just remain trapped in that sea of fire?
Even if that sea of fire was not as real as we perceived it to be and was merely an illusion,
