I went to find Xu Qiuyan, and before I even reached her door, I heard arguing inside.
I didn't push the door open right away. Instead, I stood outside, wanting to hear what they were arguing about.
"Xu Qiuyan, this is the collective decision of the Administration Bureau's upper management. What, are you planning to defy orders?"
A man shrieked sharply. Even through the door, I could feel his arrogance.
Xu Qiuyan's voice came from inside. "A collective decision? Let me ask you, did the director of the Administration Bureau approve it? And did my mother approve it? Besides, I'm part of the Administration Bureau's upper management too, and I haven't agreed to it!"
The man sneered. "What, just because you and your mom disagree, you think you can deny that this is the collective decision of the Administration Bureau's upper management? Aside from that director who never shows his face, you and your mom, there are nine other people in upper management. All nine of us agreed. According to the principle that the minority obeys the majority, even if you and your mother disagree, you still have to comply. Giving you advance notice is already doing you a favor. Don't be ungrateful. You're only third from the bottom in the Administration Bureau's rankings, yet you really think you're somebody?"
"Fu Ting, say that again if you dare."
"I said it. What are you going to do about it? You and your mom are just there to make up the numbers in the Administration Bureau. Stop acting like you're important. What the hell is your Xu Family? Do you have the deep roots of a great family like the rest of us? I really don't know why you were allowed into the Administration Bureau in the first place. Ever since
