I found Yangjin and Maru again.
They were still in that room, waiting for me to return.
"Back so soon?" Yangjin's face showed a trace of surprise when she saw me.
Soon? It didn't seem that soon, did it?
"Maru had barely returned when you came back. I was even blaming him, wondering why he hadn't followed you and had come back alone. He actually said he didn't know. This child is getting more and more muddleheaded."
Mister Yuan had thrown Maru out, but apparently he had no memory of it whatsoever. He likely hadn't retained any memories of this trip either. He didn't even know how he had gotten back.
At the time, I didn't know whether Mister Yuan found him too talkative or simply didn't want him going down there, but with a wave of his hand, he had sent Maru back.
"My business here is finished. You two should go back. I still have other matters to attend to." I spoke to Yangjin.
"Ah? It's over?" Yangjin looked somewhat disappointed. She looked at me, and I could feel the heat in her gaze. Only then did I remember that, in her mind, I was her man.
The thought made me feel a little awkward as well.
But she quickly adjusted herself. "All right, then I'll go back. I only came because I wanted to see you. Now that I have, my heart is at ease. If—if there's a chance, could you come back to see me and keep me company?"
I hesitated before saying, "If there's a chance, I will."
A smile appeared on her face. It was clear that she was genuinely happy.
She said, "Let Maru accompany you in whatever you need to do next. I believe he'll be able to help you."
I froze.
