I did not attack them. Instead, I let them escort me to this ancestral hall.

It was not that I could not defeat them. Rather, I sensed that they were all living people. I guessed they were likely the pirates on this island. There were over a thousand pirates here. I could not truly slaughter them all, could I? How much Karma would that bring upon me?

Besides, I wanted to find out what major incident had happened on the island. Perhaps it would help me find the fragments.

Soon, the Old Uncle they had mentioned arrived.

When I saw this Old Uncle they spoke of, I was slightly taken aback.

This man did not look like a pirate at all. Instead, he looked like an old scholar. He wore a long cyan robe, his hair braided into a long plait, and a pair of glasses rested on his nose. They looked like an old-fashioned pair, and one of the temples seemed to have broken off and been wrapped with tape.

He also held a fan in his hand—a battered folding fan.

He slowly walked up to me, his crossed eyes settling on my face. "Young man, where did you come from?"

He smiled at me, and I saw a piece of chili skin stuck in his teeth. It was rather disgusting.

Still, I said, "I came from Little Barren Island."

"Little Barren Island? Then what are you doing here?" A smile appeared on his face, but it was a very fake one.

"I came to the island to find someone." Of course, I could not tell him what I was really here for, so I could only say I was looking for someone.

"Looking for someone? Who are you looking for? I know everyone on this island. Tell me."
