Meeting, Grandpa's Changes

As we chatted, we entered the building.

It was only a three-story structure, but I had long guessed that what we saw might not be real. Though the building did not look large, I believed its secrets lay underground.

I had guessed right. After entering, we did not go upstairs but took an elevator down. There were actually eighteen underground levels. Were they trying to dig all the way to the Earth's core?

Of course, that was just a joke. If the Earth were really that fragile, humanity would have gone extinct long ago.

"The entire underground complex is my laboratory. Nearly two thousand people serve me here—serve me alone. Like me, they are obsessed with science and are even willing to sacrifice themselves for it. Among those two thousand people, if I needed any one of them to die, they would not hesitate. They would be proud to sacrifice themselves for me, for science. I have not brainwashed them, truly. They do it willingly because they believe in science, and they believe in me."

I was beginning to have my doubts. This doctor was extremely confident and self-centered.

He had only stopped short of saying that he was science, and science was him.

But I figured he had his reasons for being so confident.

If he had truly "created" beings like Yang Jian and the Monkey King—ancient immortals who had long vanished into myth—then his abilities truly could not be underestimated.

"I know you are looking for someone. I even know who you are looking for. I can tell you with certainty that the person you seek is here." The doctor spoke casually, as though he were discussing something insignificant.

But to my ears, it was like a bolt of thunder.

I looked at him. "Is that true?"

"Of
