Boyue Cave!
This place was the immortal cave of the monster who had abducted Baihua Xiu, the third princess of Baoxiang Kingdom.
The monster here was known as the Yellow Robe Monster, but he was not truly a monster at all. Instead, he was Kui Mulang, a stellar deity of the Heavenly Court!
Kui Mulang had a secret romance with the Jade Maiden of Pixiang Hall in the Heavenly Court.
Kui Mulang knew that such an affair in the Heavenly Court would inevitably incur severe punishment from above, so he had the Jade Maiden descend first to reincarnate into the imperial palace, where she became Baihua Xiu, the third princess of Baoxiang Kingdom.
Finding his chance, Kui Mulang also descended to the mortal realm to become a monster, snatching Baihua Xiu away to live as husband and wife for twelve or thirteen years.
Yet this destined union was bitter; one remembered, while the other suffered from amnesia.
Or rather,
the one Kui Mulang loved was the Jade Maiden of Pixiang Hall.
Baihua Xiu was the soul of the Jade Maiden, but Baihua Xiu's personality was not that of the Jade Maiden.
Kui Mulang's deep affection was a misery to Baihua Xiu!
No matter how well Kui Mulang treated Baihua Xiu, in her eyes he was nothing more than a human trafficker who had kidnapped her.
Most crucially, Kui Mulang did not conform to human aesthetics.
