Different Standpoints

Barren mountains in the outskirts of Leizhou City.

Two factions stood facing each other.

The atmosphere between them felt somewhat off.

One side consisted of Xu Changqing and his companions, who had gathered here together.

The other side consisted of a single person: Yun Ting, the guardian of Leizhou City.

"Young Master Yun, we hope you can put the overall situation first and hand the Lightning Pearl over to us." Tang Xuejian wore a troubled expression, yet she still spoke those words.

Yun Ting showed no anger upon hearing this, merely shaking his head slowly as he said, "I am sorry, Miss Xuejian, but I cannot give you the Lightning Pearl."

Jing Tian could not help holding his tongue at that, immediately demanding, "Didn't you dislike the Lightning Pearl before? Why are you suddenly unwilling to hand it over?"

Yun Ting raised his head to gaze deeply at Leizhou City before speaking. "I do indeed dislike the Lightning Pearl, and I even despise the divine power it grants me, yet I must accept it."

Jing Tian: "..."

Yun Ting glanced at Jing Tian and said, "I have heard Miss Xuejian speak of Brother Jing's background; it certainly has not been easy."

That remark caused Jing Tian's expression to freeze for a moment, but he quickly recovered his smiling and bantering demeanor.

Yun Ting continued, "I was born the son of Leizhou City's magistrate. Servants attend to my food, clothing, housing, and travel, and I enjoy every luxury afforded to my station. I belong to the upper class by birth, while you belong to the lower class."
