The wasteland!

In the center of the wasteland lay a massive oasis, and right at the heart of that oasis was a vast lake.

Sun Goku, with his hairy face and thunder-god beak, dressed in a stylish tiger-skin miniskirt, descended from the sky and landed at the edge of this lake.

Sun Goku walked a circle around the lake without seeing the shadow of any living creature, stopping before a severely cleaved stone tablet inscribed with the characters "Mirror Reflection Lake".

Why aren't there any people or demons around?

Right at that moment, Sun Goku saw two seats hovering above Mirror Reflection Lake, and those seats appeared in colors of black and white.

A monkey's nature was always curious, so he leaped straight onto one of the seats.

Sun Goku searched for a while longer and still did not see any so-called city, immediately cursing angrily, "That Earth God actually dared to lie to Old Sun! Where on earth is this Chess of Life and Death... city!"

The very instant the three words left his mouth, the entire oasis along with Sun Goku's body began to sway. A massive rumbling noise echoed in his ears, and as he looked toward the source of the vibration, he saw the mirror-smooth lake surface rise to reveal a gigantic chessboard.

Sun Goku himself began to rise rapidly along with the seat, appearing several hundred meters high in the air.

As it turned out, those two seats were not real chairs at all, but rather the crown atop the head of a giant male statue.

The exact moment this statue rose from the lake surface, Sun Goku wanted to escape the seat, but he suddenly discovered that he was unable to leave it.
