Taking Blaze to Level Up

At the center of the battlefield, Vanguard and Blaze stood back-to-back, warily watching the large group of Black Iron Beasts closing in around them.

Inside Vanguard, Xiao Zhen used his scanner to check Blaze's level.

He discovered that Blaze was only level six, with combat power somewhat below Vanguard's. Still, this was better than Xiao Zhen had expected. He had originally thought Blaze was only level two or three, on the same level as ordinary cannon fodder.

"Blaze, can you use Thunder Half-Moon Slash now?" A different voice sounded from within Vanguard.

Blaze looked at Vanguard curiously and asked in confusion, "Vanguard, was that you asking me just now?"

Just as Vanguard was about to explain, a flash of light appeared. A ball of light encasing a child flew out of Vanguard's body and entered Blaze's body directly.

"Th-this... what is going on?" Blaze said in alarm.

Everything was far too strange. Blaze could clearly sense that his movements could be controlled at any time. Although his instincts told him that the child who had entered his body would not harm him, he still felt at a loss.

At that moment, Vanguard stepped forward to reassure him. "Blaze, don't be nervous. The one inside you now is the Mecha King of our Motorcycle Clan. Don't worry, he won't hurt you."

The moment he heard it was the Mecha King, Blaze immediately relaxed. Though he had only just met Vanguard, his instincts told him that Vanguard would not deceive him. Perhaps this was the natural rapport between them.

"Blaze, answer my question. Can you use your ultimate move now or not?" Xiao Zhen asked again from inside Blaze.

Blaze thought for a moment before answering seriously, "Thunder Half-Moon Slash is my inherited family technique. I couldn't use it before because my level was too low.

"But during this period, I've fought many battles and taken out quite a few Black Iron Beasts, so my level has improved greatly. And when you entered my body, I also felt my power increase. I should be able to use Thunder Half-Moon Slash now."

Xiao Zhen smiled faintly. "Very good. In that case, Vanguard, help out from the side. Try to cripple those Black Iron Beasts, then leave them to Blaze. Help him level up."

Vanguard swung the twin halberds in his hands and said confidently, "Don't worry. Leave it to me."

Xiao Zhen said, "Then let's begin. Let's teach these Black Iron Beasts that having more people doesn't mean they can do whatever they want."

Blaze focused his mind. Before long, he instinctively summoned a large saber.

Vanguard laughed. "In that case, I'll take the lead."

Immediately afterward, Vanguard charged at the encircling Black Iron Beasts like he had been pumped full of adrenaline, twin halberds in hand.

Blaze followed close behind with his saber.

Vanguard slammed into a Black Iron Beast head-on. With a thrust of his right-hand halberd, he pierced its body, then forcefully lifted and flung it behind him.

Blaze, following behind Vanguard, looked at the heavily wounded Black Iron Beast that had fallen before him and felt a little reluctant. But he knew this was a critical moment, not a time for softheartedness. With a casual swing of his saber, he sent the Black Iron Beast on its final journey.

After killing the Black Iron Beast, Blaze successfully obtained its combat energy.

And so, Blaze began his painful yet joyful path of leveling up. Vanguard at the front also grew fiercer as he fought. None of the Black Iron Beasts facing him were above level five; to him, not a single one could put up a fight.

However, as the battle continued, more and more Black Iron Beasts gathered around them. By the time Blaze had leveled up to nine, his hands were already trembling.

Vanguard was beginning to feel exhausted as well. After all, he was the one fighting desperately at the front while Blaze picked up the leftovers behind him. Even Blaze was tired, let alone him, the one doing all the work.

Xiao Zhen checked the Mecha King's exclusive map and found that a huge number of Black Iron Beasts had gathered around them, nearly a thousand in total. He said anxiously:

"It really is time to retreat, but there are too many of them. Vanguard, send a message and have the troops lying in ambush outside come reinforce us. Otherwise, it'll be hard to break out."

Vanguard, who had just killed a Black Iron Beast with a single halberd strike, agreed. "Got it. I'll send the message right away."

In a concealed valley nearby, over a hundred Moon Temple warriors were hidden.

One Moon Temple warrior suddenly received Vanguard's signal. He immediately shouted, "Vanguard has sent a signal! Everyone, follow me!"

Before long, more than a hundred Moon Temple warriors appeared at the outer edge of the Black Iron Beast forces. Though they were fewer in number, they managed to open a gap through their coordinated attack from within and without.

Vanguard and Blaze transformed into cars and charged out of the encirclement at top speed.

The enraged Black Iron Beasts did not forget to give chase. Although they took out several unlucky Moon Temple warriors, they still failed to stop them from escaping.

After fleeing frantically for half an hour, Xiao Zhen and the others finally escaped the Black Iron Beasts' pursuit.

After that, Blaze, as the local host, naturally took charge of leading the way, and everyone safely returned to the City of Time.

After entering the city, Blaze finally let out a huge sigh of relief. He immediately called over his companions and arranged accommodations for the Moon Temple warriors.

Xiao Zhen also examined the city with interest. Setting everything else aside, the City of Time was far stronger than the Moon Temple in terms of defense.

At the very least, it had towering city walls, with plenty of cannons mounted atop them. If the City of Time had one weakness, it was that the Motorcycle Warriors here were too weak.

The Motorcycle Warriors of the City of Time were mostly modeled after small sports cars, and their levels generally ranged from one to two.

After entering the City of Time, Xiao Zhen scanned most of the sports car warriors. To his disappointment, there were only a few level-three warriors here, and the vast majority were level one.

These sports car warriors of the City of Time were fine when shooting cannons from a distance, but once they entered close combat with the Fierce Beast Clan, they would most likely just give away their lives and become energy for the enemy to level up.

As Xiao Zhen continued looking around, Blaze approached with a small robot.

"Xiao Zhen, our City Lord wishes to see you. He hopes that you and Vanguard can go over," Blaze explained.

Xiao Zhen nodded. As guests who had suddenly arrived at the City of Time during such a critical moment, it was only natural for them to meet the host here.

"Blaze, this kid is the Mecha King you mentioned? He isn't a fake, is he? You know, the Mecha King hasn't appeared since the last ancient war." The robot behind Blaze suddenly spoke.

Xiao Zhen sized up the robot. From his appearance, he could tell that its original form was probably a motorcycle.

If Xiao Zhen was not mistaken, this guy was supposedly the second-in-command of the City of Time, as well as the comedic relief of the Transforming Beasts—Hot Wheels.

Xiao Zhen lifted his little chin and said arrogantly, "Whether I'm the Mecha King isn't for you to decide. And who are you?"

Seeing how arrogant this little brat was, Hot Wheels put on an equally smug expression and declared arrogantly, "You don't know who I am? I am the leader of the City of Time..."

Xiao Zhen's eyes immediately widened. This guy really knew how to brag. Having watched the show, Xiao Zhen had recognized his true identity at a glance, yet he actually dared to claim he was the City Lord.

Only after seeing Xiao Zhen's shocked expression did Hot Wheels continue, "...'s assistant. In other words, I'm the second-in-command of the City of Time."

Xiao Zhen instantly cursed, "Can't you finish what you're saying in one breath? Stop putting on airs in front of me, or I'll flatten you with one punch."
