Giovanni, the Most Patient Man

Viridian City Gym was filled with lavish yet antique decorations. Many people said that Gym Leader Giovanni was an outstanding entrepreneur who had built an enormous empire in less than twenty years.

Even some of Viridian City's local youths regarded him as an idol.

Someone had noticed that Giovanni seemed to like Caterpie. There was even an artificial forest inside the Gym, filled almost entirely with large, green bugs.

"That brat just now wasn't bad. His command skills weren't all that impressive, but the Pokémon in his hands all had top-notch potential. What a pity... what a pity!"

Seated in a genuine leather chair, Giovanni shook his head. He had been fairly impressed by Gary, who had just battled him.

If the other party had merely been an ordinary civilian Pokémon Trainer, Giovanni would not have minded sending his men to intercept him along the way. Any method would do, as long as they could get their hands on those fine Pokémon. The underground black market never lacked buyers.
