Mountains stretched across the distance, their ends nowhere in sight. Clouds and mist still curled around some of the peaks.

Chen Feng remarked that the spiritual energy here was quite abundant. As he headed forward, passing through many rural villages, he saw quite a few people still working in the fields in the distance.

It seemed this place had indeed not suffered any disaster.

However, when Chen Feng approached a village, he saw a crude watchtower at its entrance. Someone stood watch atop it, and upon seeing Chen Feng, immediately shouted and summoned several strong young men.

"Hey, we have no food here. Go somewhere else. Refuges aren't welcome here!"

Chen Feng was taken aback and could only detour around the village. Yet every entrance was heavily guarded, leaving no chance for anyone to enter.

At the slightest disturbance, the villagers would gather with all sorts of hoes, weapons, and bamboo poles to defend themselves.

Left with no choice, Chen Feng bypassed those places and headed toward distant Qingshan County.

When Chen Feng reached the county town, the situation was the same. Several city gates were shut, with many soldiers guarding them. Everyone entering was interrogated, and people were not allowed in easily.

Yet from outside the city, Chen Feng could clearly hear how lively it was within. Fireworks rose one after another, shooting straight into the clouds.
