Reason or Force

"Get lost! Get lost!" Bai Chao waved them away as if shooing flies. He had originally thought highly of the boy, but seeing how he seemed not to care much about the Bai Clan made him inexplicably irritated.

Still, he could understand it. The boy had not grown up in the clan, and he had reached this point entirely through his own efforts. It was understandable that he had no attachment to the clan. Fortunately, his character seemed decent. With a good disposition, feelings and such could be cultivated slowly.

"It'd be best if the boy found a confidante in the clan. Then there'd be no problem." Bai Chao muttered, then smiled and lay back down, humming a tune as though he were in quite a good mood.

How should one put it? He truly was a fickle old man.
