Chunin Exams
"Rule Three: If even one member of a team scores zero, the entire team will be judged unqualified and eliminated immediately!"
The scar-faced man continued.
Hearing that, Sasuke finally cracked.
Naruto might have had some hope in other areas.
But when it came to written cultural subjects, that Dead Last had proven countless times back at the Academy that he had an inseparable, intimate relationship with zeroes.
On the other side, Sakura let out a wail as expected.
Damn it.
Sasuke turned and glanced at Gaara.
He had originally planned to fight as many strong opponents as possible during these Chunin Exams to test his own strength.
He had not expected the very first round to be this troublesome.
Just as he was carefully considering how to break the deadlock, a voice suddenly rang out in his mind.
Three ordinary minds together surpass Zhuge Liang. Congratulations, you have awakened the system: "Collective Wisdom."
What was that voice?
Sasuke warily looked around. Examiner Ibiki was still explaining the rules, while the examinees were either panicking or confused, but all of them were listening carefully. Everything seemed normal.
Is someone playing a prank? And who is Zhuge Liang?
Sasuke thought.
Immediately afterward, a great deal of explanatory information surged into his mind, detailing the system's functions.
Though several terms in the explanation looked rather strange, Sasuke had been a top student since childhood and quickly figured out what it was.
"Collective Wisdom" System: As long as you listen to others' advice, you can obtain Scrolls of varying ranks. By opening a Scroll, you can randomly obtain improvements such as secret ninja techniques, physical enhancements, ninja tools and treasures, Summoned Beasts, or even Kekkei Genkai. The higher the Scroll's rank, the greater the chance of obtaining high-rank Rewards.
Just by listening to advice, I can grow stronger directly?
Sasuke's interest was piqued.
As Examiner Ibiki finished his explanation, the test papers were gradually handed out to everyone.
Sasuke forcibly suppressed his curiosity and returned his attention to the paper.
The first question: coded text.
The densely packed words and symbols were clearly on an entirely different level from the questions they had faced at the Academy.
The second question.
"Point B of the parabola in the diagram is located on a tree seven meters high. The diagram shows the maximum range of Ninja A's Shuriken. State the characteristics of the opposing ninja who would appear within the elliptical area traced by the Shuriken, as well as the maximum range in ground combat, and provide your reasoning."
What?
There was no way he knew this!
Sasuke's thoughts stirred, and he quickly understood. Isn't this forcing us to cheat?
And what was with the rule that each instance of cheating only deducted two points?
What kind of exam gave you five chances to cheat?
Recalling Examiner Ibiki's opening words—"Since you are ninjas, take the exam like excellent ninjas."
Like excellent ninjas.
That meant obtaining intelligence in a ninja's way.
Traditional cheating methods would likely get someone eliminated very quickly.
After confirming the situation, Sasuke felt somewhat reassured.
Next, it would depend on whether Naruto could figure that out.
Looking up, he saw Naruto sitting on his chair, scratching his head and shaking his leg as though he desperately needed to pee. Sasuke was left utterly speechless.
Sure enough, there was no relying on that idiot for anything involving brains.
Since there was still plenty of time, Sasuke had a thought and followed the previous instructions to try opening that so-called "Collective Wisdom" system.
In an instant, his consciousness seemed to enter some sort of genjutsu, eventually stopping before a glowing frame.
The words inside the frame were not Japanese, yet they felt strangely familiar and carried a more dignified, grand air.
Though the grammar differed from what he knew, he could naturally understand it at a glance.
Please post your first question.
Following the previous instructions, Sasuke posted a new thread on the page.
"I am Uchiha Sasuke, currently taking the first round of the Chunin Exams. The questions are clearly beyond the curriculum. Should I cheat?"
After a pause, Sasuke added, "This exam requires teams of three, and the scores are averaged. My teammate Naruto is not good at written tests. How should I help him?"
After posting it, there were no replies for the moment.
Sasuke looked around and found that quite a few people had already begun to act.
Kiba Inuzuka was using his ninja dog Akamaru to peek at answers, Shino Aburame was using insects, and Gaara was using the Sand Eye.
Sure enough, everyone had realized that this was an exam testing their intelligence-gathering abilities!
At the same time, answers from users began appearing on the system.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah, you're Uchiha Sasuke and I'm Monkey D. Luffy. Hahaha!"
"Should I believe him, or believe that I'm Qin Shi Huang?"
Sasuke sucked in a breath.
Luffy, if you're Luffy, then be Luffy. Why are you laughing like an idiot?
And who is Qin Shi Huang?
The people on this forum seemed to have something wrong with their heads.
Then a new reply appeared:
"You're still browsing forums? Your way to copy answers is to use the Sharingan to copy other people's movements. Once they've all finished writing, there won't be anything left to copy. Hurry up, little bro."
"Hm?"
Sasuke's eyes flickered at that reply.
How did someone he had never met know he possessed the Sharingan?
Of course. The Uchiha clan's reputation must have spread far and wide.
Before he could think further, the system's voice rang out in his mind once more:
You have received a new piece of advice: Hurry up and copy others' movements to complete the test. Adopt and complete this advice to receive a Rank E Scroll.
That was exactly what he intended.
Sasuke looked around again and fixed his gaze on someone in front of him who was writing furiously. He then activated the Sharingan and perfectly copied the person's movements, rapidly filling in his own test paper.
As he finished answering, another voice sounded in his mind:
Congratulations, you have completed the advice—use the Sharingan to complete the test. You have obtained a Rank E Scroll.
That was it?
Sasuke closed his eyes again, calmed his breathing, and focused his mind. In his consciousness, he saw a slightly opened Scroll glowing white.
Open!
Sasuke commanded in his mind.
You have opened a Rank E Scroll. Congratulations, you have obtained Chakra Enhancement +1.
At once, Sasuke felt a slight increase in his stamina, leaving him both shocked and delighted.
Compared to attributes like ninja techniques, strength, and hand seals, which could steadily improve through hard training, expanding one's stamina limit was relatively slow.
Though consistent practice and good habits could help improve it, this aspect depended more on a ninja's innate talent.
Put simply, it was something you were born with.
For example, fanatics like Naruto, Rock Lee, and Guy had been full of energy since childhood. If they were not hauling paint buckets around to climb the Hokage Rock statues, they would suddenly launch into five hundred laps of invincible youth. They were truly unbearable.
Yet as one of the "raw materials" of Chakra, one's stamina limit also greatly constrained Chakra endurance.
In other words, the size of one's chakra reserves.
Many times, that was the difference between life and death.
After all, the stronger the opponents, the more victories and defeats were decided by the smallest margins.
Within a few breaths, Sasuke sensed the clear growth of vitality in his body and was overjoyed.
The increase was not large, but it was far faster than training!
"Whoosh!"
A kunai flew through the air and embedded itself directly in an examinee's test paper.
"Five violations. You're eliminated," the proctor at the side told the unlucky fellow. "His other two teammates can get out of the classroom with him right now."
The sudden turn of events shocked everyone in the room.
From that point on, examinees were eliminated one after another. Watching Naruto's back, Sasuke began to feel nervous again.
