"There wasn't any 'Victory and defeat are commonplace in battle; great hero, please try again.'"
"And then a button saying 'Start from the latest save file' would pop up."
"Ahhh~ I know." Kiana said, sounding slightly impatient. "All that, but still, I..."
"No... Mei?"
Getting scolded by Mei was an everyday occurrence. Kiana had long known Mei definitely wouldn't agree with what she said. She had only been complaining to Mei that reality had failed to live up to her wishes.
She had never expected Mei to complain along with her.
Just scold her a little.
"Mei plays games too?" Kiana didn't find it strange so much as surprising and confusing. "Mei, you play games from The Legend of Sword and Hero too?"
There was nothing particularly special about those words, nor were they especially neat or catchy.
But as a signature line from a classic game, it was still widely known among players.

It was fine for Mei to know a classic quote, but Kiana didn't remember Mei liking games.
This was the first time she had used a quote from a game to scold her.
"Mei?" Kiana examined Mei carefully. The more closely she looked, the more she felt that something seemed a little off about Mei.
"Why are you wearing glasses?" Kiana asked. "Are they an accessory?"
Curious, Kiana reached out to grab them.
"No!" Mei slapped away Kiana's outstretched paw. "I wouldn't put on glasses as an accessory for no reason. If you take them away..."
"I won't be able to see clearly."
"Really?" Kiana was even more puzzled as she looked Mei over from left to right.
This was Mei, wasn't it? The exact same face, the exact same hair
