Masashi Yamamoto's expression stiffened, but he quickly put on a tough front again. "Even a supervising officer won't do. I'm Nagano Prefecture police, and he's an important suspect of ours. How could we possibly release him?"

Fujino glanced at him from the corner of his eye and leaned back against the seat behind him. "Then keep waiting for the phone to ring."
"Hmph!" Masashi Yamamoto snorted coldly. "Metropolitan Police Department consultant, honorary citizen of Aomori, hero who saved a crashing plane, Great Detective who assisted police departments across the country in solving cases... None of those titles can help you escape your crime of murder."
"I advise you not to expect anyone to come save you. Even if the superintendent general of the Metropolitan Police Department came today, I wouldn't give him an inch. A murderer like you, hiding behind the skin of a detective, must be brought to justice!"
"You've got quite a sense of justice." Fujino sat leisurely in the back seat, handcuffed. "But sometimes, ignorant justice isn't justice at all. Instead, it drives people into a corner and becomes the spark that pushes a good person toward crime."
"You're just a brat. What do you know about justice?" Masashi Yamamoto turned his head, his face cold and stern. "A murderer daring to prattle on about justice is simply an insult to the word."
