The librarian, gripping an iron pipe, watched the descending elevator with a cold expression.

After withdrawing his gaze, he looked again at the elevator's floor indicator panel.
"The first floor?"
The librarian muttered, turning toward the stairwell. "You won't get away that easily."
He ran all the way from the third floor to the first.
Wiping the sweat from his forehead, the librarian stared at the iron doors where the elevator was about to arrive and sneered. "Finally caught up to you."
A moment later, the elevator chimed.
Hearing it, the librarian immediately stepped forward.
After prying open the elevator doors with his bare hands, he pulled out the iron pipe behind him and shouted into the elevator, "Prepare yourselves! You damn little rats!"
But his roar was met with nothing.
The descending elevator was empty.
"They're gone?"
The librarian stared at the empty elevator in surprise.
Coming back to his senses, he muttered, "Did they get off midway?"
"What clever little rats!"
As he spoke, he pressed the elevator's emergency stop button, his face cold. "Without the elevator, no matter how clever you little rats are, you're nothing but turtles in a jar!"
