The people in the private room looked at one another and hurriedly got up to leave.
The young men who had been thrown against the wall did not dare linger either.
They were afraid that this "thug" in a black suit would turn on them.
"What a bunch of fair-weather friends."
Fujino commented before taking a seat beside them in the private room. The smile on his face remained unchanged as he looked at the two of them. "Now, we can talk, right?"
Ryuiti Utada said nothing. He merely grabbed the girl beside him, stood up, and quickly headed for the exit.
Fujino rose to his feet and blocked the door. "What, feeling guilty?"
"What do I have to feel guilty about? My car was stolen three days ago. Go check if you don't believe me."
Ryuiti Utada had already heard how he was supposed to clear himself of suspicion, so the excuse came out without a second thought.
"Is that so? I never said this was a hit-and-run case."
The smile on Fujino's face was meaningful. "How did you know it was a hit-and-run? Could it be that you were the one who hit them?"
Then he looked at Nanako Ryukawa beside him, his gaze filled with scrutiny. "This young lady was in the car at the time too, wasn't she?"
Fujino looked at Nanako Ryukawa and asked in a low voice, "Miss Ryukawa, could you tell me where you were last night?"
"I advise you not to meddle in other people's business!"
Seeing that everything about him had been investigated so thoroughly, Ryuiti Utada's face took on the look of an overbearing child. He grabbed Nanako Ryukawa's hand and tried to leave. "You're nothing but a dog of the Metropolitan Police Department!"
"And whose dog are you?"
