APTX4869 and the Conan identity

Conan is Kudo Shinichi in a child’s body. Ai Haibara developed an antidote for the poison that made him small; when it temporarily restored him during the school festival, Haibara impersonated Conan to prevent Ran from becoming suspicious. 283

The antidote’s duration becomes shorter with repeated use, as Conan’s immune system develops resistance. This limits how safely he can resume his Shinichi identity. 1155

Detective work under a cover identity

Conan continues solving cases while posing as a child, often having to guide adults rather than reveal his deductions openly.
