In Mel's third month at the Adventurer's Guild, he pushed open the doors once more.
"Look, our Slime Killer is here. Did you find the legendary Golden Slime?" A drinking adventurer raised his cup toward Mel.
"Don't be ridiculous, kid. We haven't seen a Golden Slime in over ten years. It's probably extinct already."
"Mel, are you still here to learn writing today?" Elnor came over to Mel's side.
Mel had not come to take on a quest today, nor had he come to study writing. He already knew the basic characters. If he studied seriously, he learned quickly; three months had been enough to master them. The rest could only be learned slowly through use.
"No, thank you." Mel found a table and sat down.
He was now level 5 and could try accepting higher-level commissions, but he had not come for a commission today. He still had enough money to spend.
He had come to wait for Ravi. Ravi had previously said he had found information about the Golden Slime. For the chance to learn magic, even if it was only a possibility, Mel had to try.

He had put all 4 attribute points into Intelligence, gaining a full 24 skill points. It only took 30 points to max out a skill, meaning he could directly raise one skill's proficiency to 80%. Mel had put them into [Cut], because his [Back Hop] was already at 83% proficiency.
After waiting for a while, Ravi appeared before Mel with three teammates: a tall male adventurer with a huge shield on his back and a shortsword at his waist. He was probably the party's frontliner, a level 6 warrior or knight.
