Mel Reunited with Kain

The Harpies were the most numerous inhabitants of the Dragon Mountain Range. With wings, they were naturally suited to surviving in such mountains and could fly to human cities at any time. These dangerous cliffs kept most threats at bay.

At night, Mel had set up his tent when some commotion startled him awake.

He instantly cast Luminous Spell to avoid unnecessary trouble.

But he was still a little too late. The two people who had approached stepped right into the magic trap he had set. Blazing Burst exploded at once, and the firelight obscured their vision.

Three arrows shot through the flames toward Mel at the same time. He raised a hand and cast a Magic Shield, knocking all three arrows away.

No matter what, a misunderstanding had already arisen. They could not stop until he had beaten some sense into the people on the other side.

Before Mel could raise his hand to cast a second spell, someone gripping a sword charged through the flames and slashed at his shield. "Bone Shield!"

Mel defended himself once more.

Yet that sword sliced through both layers of his defense with incredible sharpness, like a hot knife through butter.

Under the light of Luminous Spell, both sides froze.

"Mel!"

"Why is this guy here?"

"Sister Clabel wrote to me."

The two spoke almost exactly the same words at once, and the Long-eared archer in the distance had no choice but to lower his bow.

Since they knew each other, the tense atmosphere instantly vanished.
