Capture the City

The scouts had gathered some information within the city. The Gard Empire still had two factions at war, and the armies of nobles from all over were continuously converging on the imperial capital.

Because this village had formed a small, fully armored force, the local lord had not led his troops to join the war. Naturally, his actions had drawn the dissatisfaction of others.

Inside the count's city, he paced back and forth along the walls.

The steward beside him reminded him, "My lord, if we do not send troops this time, I fear we will have no way to join the prince's ranks."

"Who says he is guaranteed to win? This is the royal family's business! Whether they win or lose, I will still be a noble. I have nothing to do with this." He was, after all, a count in his own right. Within his territory, he was a little emperor. As long as he did not rebel, no one could do much to him.

At most, the winning side would distance itself from him after the war. Besides, he had never been a noble from the central regions.

"Have those farmers who want to rebel made any moves lately? And has that dark mage left my territory?"

"My lord, the dark mage has been training those farmers recently. It seems he intends to turn them into an army."

"What! Why haven't the church's people come yet? If they don't come soon, I'll be dead!" The lord angrily slammed his fist into the bricks of the wall. It was like a blade hanging over his neck, ready to fall at any moment.

If that dark mage came looking for trouble, even gathering every adventurer in the city would not be enough. That was a mage at the Grand
