Mel Ambushed

The two sat calmly. Saik did not answer, because no matter what the outcome was, they had to wait for news from Lord Westland.

If Lord Westland survived, the subsequent negotiations could proceed.

Meanwhile, Mel, who had originally used flight magic to rush to Edge City, was also intercepted midway. He had already entrusted Duni City's defenses to the bearfolk general.

Before him stood two people: a disheveled old man gripping a sword, and a nun holding a staff.

Both were Level 80.

Although they were only five levels above him, they made him feel danger despite his boss-tier status panel.

To be safe, Mel first prepared a [Scarecrow]. As a skill caster, he did not need to chant anything.

"What do you want?" Mel narrowed his eyes and instantly activated [Magic Perception].

"My apologies, young archmage. Someone paid this old man a handsome sum, so I'll be taking your head!"

"You black mage types are not tolerated by the world! So I've come to eliminate you." The young nun merely smiled as a light spear began forming behind her.

It was the level 70 holy skill [Light Spear Throw]. Mel sensed the danger; getting hit by that thing could kill him. With [Scarecrow] already active, he immediately activated [Magic Shield] + [Electro-Ice Wall] + [Lightning Barrier] + [Wind Shield].

Though he did not know whether these defenses would work against light-element attacks, he still had to prepare himself first.

He continued by summoning [Skeleton Soldier], since their bones could be transformed into [Bone Shield], which could block a hit for him at a critical moment.

The old man before him moved the next instant, almost instantly vanishing from Mel's sight. If his magic had not still been able to sense the old man's presence, Mel would have thought he
