Mel instantly conjured a [Scarecrow] to guard against any follow-up splash damage. At the same time, he activated [Magic Shield]. Against light-element attacks, neither [Electro-Ice Wall] nor [Lightning Barrier] was as effective at blocking damage as Magic Shield. [Wind Style], with its trait for blocking ranged attacks, was actually more useful.

After blocking the first wave of attacks, the two Hall of Fame mages rapidly closed in on Mel. One of them swiftly condensed an enormous hammer of light in his hand.

Empowered by magic, the glowing Holy Hammer seemed to weigh a thousand pounds. One hit would probably flatten a person into a slab of meat.

The other mage used the same spell. Though their attack pattern was simple, it was highly effective. They could not remain airborne for long like Mel, so they had chosen a method that would end the fight quickly.

The moment the [Scarecrow] shattered, Mel immediately activated [Invisibility], yet he was still struck by their blind attack.

He plummeted toward the ground at high speed.

"Damn it! I haven't even had the chance to use Flash!"

Their reaction speed truly shocked him. It was like fighting AI scripts. The instant he turned invisible, he had not even had time to use [Flash] to create some distance.

Before hitting the ground, he did not use flight magic again to steady himself. Instead, he crushed a red potion in his hand, restoring his health bar to a healthy state.

They had come prepared. It was not just the church members—the two people on the ground had to be powerful as well. Especially that old man holding a sword. Had he seen him somewhere before?

Just as he tried to pull away from the ground, the magic inside his body suddenly stalled. His MP bar turned gray.
