Shirou Emiya was talking to Issei Ryudo at the Student Council room entrance. When Rin saw Shirou, she froze slightly. Though her mood worsened, she hid it well and intended to walk straight past as if she had not seen him—this was also a form of protecting him. After all, the Tohsaka Family was practically a hundred percent publicly known to be Masters.
With other Servants confirmed to be in the school, it was better not to expose her relationship with Shirou Emiya if possible.
However, just as Rin Tohsaka walked past him with an air of not seeing him, intending to leave—
"Yo, good morning, Tohsaka!"
She might not see Shirou Emiya, but Shirou could see her!
"Phew..." Rin really wanted to turn around and snap, "Good morning my ass," but the manners she had cultivated at school over the years only made her take a deep breath. She turned back coolly. "Ah, good morning, Emiya."
Shirou Emiya scratched his head in confusion. "She seems to be in a really bad mood today?"
"Not bad, Shirou. You're actually starting to pay attention to other people's moods?" Beside him, Issei Ryudo looked as though he had made some tremendous discovery. Smiling, he encouraged him, "I'd like to tell you to keep it up, but Tohsaka probably isn't that easy to win over."
As Shirou's friend, Issei Ryudo understood quite clearly that although Shirou Emiya was hailed as the gentlest man in the school, at his core, he was extremely indifferent.
That indifference was carved deep into his bones, as if it were his very nature. Yet it was not the kind of indifference that kept people at arm's length. Rather... even while refusing no one, he would not accept or respond to anyone's goodwill either.
