That evening, Rimuru dragged his exhausted body back to the villa. Unlike him, his little wings were happily throwing a party in the swimming pool.
Watching Nine Tails silently nibble on a chocolate bar in Ye Xiaoqian's arms with an expression that said she really couldn't do anything about them, Rimuru suddenly felt utterly drained.
All the happiness was yours. I had nothing.
"Yo, you're back?" Lilith raised her eyes and saw Rimuru plunge headfirst into the water, floating motionlessly on the surface like a corpse. She immediately snorted with laughter. "Hey, did you go to too many nightclubs with Deadpool and wear yourself out hiring girls?"
"Why do you look so weak?"
"Huh?!!" Before Rimuru could respond, Nine Tails froze first, raising her little head with a baffled look.
"Don't talk nonsense!" Rimuru drifted listlessly on the water. "Do you know what mental exhaustion is? I never want to deal with something like Deadpool a second time for the rest of my life."
"So? Did Deadpool agree to reconcile?" Ye Xiaoqian swam over from the side and poked him curiously.
"No. He refused."
"Huh, but we already promised Kingpin..." Nine Tails immediately turned a pair of sparkling eyes toward him, eager to try. "Are we going to make a move?!"
"No, why didn't he agree?" Lilith became interested. Sitting on a beach chair, she straightened up, crossing her legs as she chuckled. "Didn't you tell him you could kill him... Well, I suppose it makes sense. Being unable to die was a curse to him in the first place."
Not everyone pursued eternity. Immortality was sometimes the most painful torment.
"So what are you going to do with him?" Lilith raised an eyebrow. "Did you kill him?"
"No..." Rimuru poked his head out, looking dejected. "I brought him back..."
