Chapter 12: Xiao Wu the Rabbit
By the time they returned to Notting College, the students had already resumed their regular classes!
"Old man, you want me to attend class?" Lu Yuan looked at Ferros in confusion.
"At your age, if you don't go to class, what do you plan to do?" Ferros said irritably.
"Fine!" Lu Yuan shrugged helplessly. "Which class am I in?" Although Notting College was only a Junior Soul Master Academy, the first year still had four classes.
"Class One, of course!" Ferros said.
As Notting College's key class, Class One had the highest overall student strength among the four classes. Its students generally possessed Innate Soul Power of level three or above.
The students in the other classes varied considerably. Some had only half a level or one level, while others had two levels, though they generally did not exceed level four. Therefore, Class One students usually felt a sense of superiority when facing students from the other classes.
"Oh! That Tang San seems to be in Class One too!" Ferros said, as if remembering something.
Lu Yuan nodded. Though Blue Silver Grass was considered a useless Martial Soul, sheer strength could overcome any technique. Innate Full Soul Power alone was enough for Tang San to enter Class One.
"Get ready. Go register tomorrow!" Ferros said.
"Mm! Got it."
The next day!
"Students, a new student is joining our class today. Let's welcome him with applause! Student, please introduce yourself to everyone!" Class One's homeroom teacher was a female teacher, a level twenty-one Soul Grandmaster.
Lu Yuan walked onto the platform, looked around at the group of children below, and said loudly, "Hello, everyone. My name is Lu Yuan!"
One second passed, then two!
"That's it?" The female teacher looked somewhat stunned.
"Mm!" Lu Yuan nodded. He had nothing else to say!
"Hehe!" The female teacher gave an awkward laugh. "Then, Lu Yuan, find yourself an empty seat!"
Lu Yuan swept his gaze around and sat at an empty desk beside Tang San!
"Alright, students, let's begin today's lesson!" The female teacher was quite knowledgeable and well versed in Martial Soul theory. Her lecture was vivid and engaging, but Lu Yuan had learned all of this two years ago.
He yawned boredly. With nothing better to do, Lu Yuan began looking around.
That was when he spotted a girl who, like him, was looking about restlessly. The girl was rather cute, dressed in a pink short skirt, with a scorpion braid and a pink hair accessory on her head.
She's sitting beside Tang San. This girl must be Xiao Wu! Their eyes met, and Lu Yuan nodded at her kindly before turning his head away again.
Xiao Wu tilted her cute little head and softly asked Tang San beside her, "Little San, do you know that Lu Yuan?"
Tang San, who had been listening attentively, turned his head. "Yes. I met him a few days ago when we went to obtain our first Soul Rings."
"I think he looks pretty formidable!" Xiao Wu's big eyes blinked, a glint flashing through them.
"Mm!" Tang San paused before saying, "He's very strong!" Remembering how Lu Yuan had shattered a large tree with one punch that day, fighting spirit flashed through Tang San's eyes.
"Very strong, huh?" Xiao Wu's eyes darted about as though she were plotting something.
Lu Yuan was truly bored, so he took out a pencil and began drawing on the desk. Come to think of it, he had not done something like this for many years, in either this life or his previous one. Revisiting it now was actually somewhat interesting.
When they had hunted Soul Beasts last time, the Fine Iron Spear had been snapped in half by a single punch from the Sky-Supporting Demon Ape. Lu Yuan had since wanted to forge a new spear.
Thinking about it again, if he had possessed a tougher, sharper spear, then when he stabbed the Sky-Supporting Demon Ape in the neck, the spearhead would not have only penetrated a short distance. Instead, it would have sunk in entirely, severely injuring the Sky-Supporting Demon Ape with a single thrust. Neither he nor his bargain-bin father would have been injured.
Since he had nothing to do now, Lu Yuan could use this time to properly design his weapon.
With his pencil, Lu Yuan sketched and wrote across the desk. At times his brows furrowed tightly, while at others a smile appeared on his lips. Xiao Wu, sitting beside him, began to wonder whether he had split personalities.
Soon, the morning passed, and the female teacher finished her animated lecture.
"Students, class is dismissed!" At the female teacher's command, the students began to disperse!
Lu Yuan stretched. After a whole morning, he had already formed a rough design for his new spear.
His stomach was growling now. He should go get something to eat in the cafeteria first.
Beside him, Tang San and Xiao Wu also packed up their belongings and prepared to head to the cafeteria.
"Together?" Lu Yuan raised a brow.
"Sure!" Tang San replied.
"Hello, I'm Xiao Wu. Wu as in dancing!" Xiao Wu bounced over to greet him. She was clearly the familiar sort.
Wu as in dancing? What kind of dance, square dancing? Lu Yuan grumbled inwardly.
"Hello, Xiao Wu. I'm Lu Yuan!" Lu Yuan replied with a faint smile.
"I know! You said that when you introduced yourself!" Xiao Wu said.
"You're so interesting! The teacher's awkward expression was so funny!" Xiao Wu giggled, looking exactly like a Little Witch.
Lu Yuan could only respond with a faint smile.
Tang San shook his head helplessly. "Xiao Yuan, Xiao Wu, let's go!"
The three headed toward the cafeteria side by side!
The cafeteria was some distance from the teaching building, though not too far away. The three chatted as they walked and soon arrived.
"You two haven't eaten on the second floor before, right?" Lu Yuan asked.
He knew a little about Tang San's family circumstances. The second floor was rather expensive, so Tang San and Xiao Wu likely could not afford it.
Sure enough, Xiao Wu shook her head. "The second floor is too expensive. We can't afford it!" As she spoke, she touched her flat little money pouch, where six Silver Soul Coins were clearly visible.
Tang San looked surprised. "Xiao Wu, didn't you just collect your allowance yesterday? Why do you only have six Silver Soul Coins left?"
As soon as he returned from obtaining his Soul Ring, he had followed Grandmaster's instructions and gone to Spirit Hall to collect his allowance. When Xiao Wu heard she could receive money, she had also run to Spirit Hall to register. Yet he had not expected that, after only one day, a full Gold Soul Coin had dwindled to just six Silver Soul Coins.
Xiao Wu said brightly, "I wanted to buy pretty clothes!" Her face reddened slightly. It seemed she was also a little embarrassed by her lavish spending.
Register at Spirit Hall? It's time I went to Spirit Hall too! He had not forgotten the Sign-in Task. It was time to visit Spirit Hall.
Tang San was also somewhat helpless upon hearing Xiao Wu's words.
"Let's eat on the second floor together today. My treat!" Lu Yuan said generously, waving a hand.
"Yay! Lu Yuan, you're such a good friend!" Xiao Wu was delighted. She had long coveted the food on the second floor but had been reluctant to spend the money.
Girls really were strange. They were willing to spend money on pretty clothes, yet reluctant to spend it on food.
"Is that really alright, Xiao Yuan?" Tang San hesitated. He had never liked taking advantage of others.
"It's fine. It's only one meal. Once you have money later, you can treat me in return!" Lu Yuan said, patting Tang San on the shoulder.
Tang San nodded at those words. Lu Yuan had put it that way, so he could not very well refuse.
The three walked side by side into the second-floor cafeteria!
