Roommates and Division of Factions
Pushing open the dormitory door, Lu Yuan found it quite spacious. Apart from two beds, two wardrobes, and two desks, there was nothing else inside.
The dormitory was spotless, clearly cleaned by someone specially assigned to do so.
Of the two beds, one was piled with bedding, obviously already occupied, while the other was nothing but a bare wooden board. Lu Yuan knew that one was his bed.
He found a chair and sat down, putting away his belongings. Although Har had said bedding would be arranged for him, he still had to use his own toiletries.
As the sun set, two hours had passed in the blink of an eye since Lu Yuan arrived at the Training Camp.
Training at the camp had already ended as well.
"Who are you?" Yuan Xin looked at the small figure in the dormitory with some confusion.
"I'm a new trainee. My name is Lu Yuan!" Lu Yuan looked at the youth standing in the doorway. "You must be my roommate!"
"A newcomer?" Seeing Lu Yuan's childish face, Yuan Xin's slight wariness gradually faded. Fortunately, he was only a six- or seven-year-old child.
"Hello, I'm Yuan Xin!" Yuan Xin seemed to have a rather cold personality. After greeting him, he stopped paying attention to Lu Yuan and sat alone to the side.
Lu Yuan was not someone who liked making conversation either. Since Yuan Xin ignored him, he could not be bothered to speak up, and the entire dormitory fell silent.
Knock, knock, knock! Someone knocked on the door.
"Who is it?"
"Does Lu Yuan live here? These are the bedding Manager Har ordered us to deliver!"
It was a middle-aged man.
"I'm Lu Yuan. Thank Manager Har for me!" Lu Yuan said as he accepted the bedding from the middle-aged man.
The middle-aged man nodded and turned to leave.
Holding the bedding, Lu Yuan went to his bed and spread it out.
The bedding was quite large and fit perfectly over the already wide bed. It was soft and comfortable to the touch, and the quality was not bad.
"Are you related to Manager Har?" Yuan Xin's cool voice rang out.
"What relationship?" Yuan Xin taking the initiative to speak surprised Lu Yuan, but his question also left him confused.
"If you aren't related, why would Manager Har have someone bring you bedding?"
"Doesn't every trainee get this?" Lu Yuan asked.
Yuan Xin stared straight at Lu Yuan. Only after seeing that his expression did not change did he say, "Trainees prepare their own bedding. The Training Camp does not handle such things."
"Then this..." Looking at his bedding, Lu Yuan understood. Perhaps Instructor Chris and Manager Har had been given some instructions. After all, his admission to the Training Camp had been Your Holiness's order.
"It seems your background is not ordinary," Yuan Xin said flatly.
Lu Yuan fell silent for a moment and did not explain.
It seemed that no matter where one went, such matters were unavoidable. Even within Spirit Hall, one's background still mattered. Ordinary people would never receive better treatment.
The atmosphere turned somewhat awkward, so Lu Yuan changed the subject. "You've been in the Training Camp for so long. Is there anything I need to watch out for here?"
Yuan Xin was around nine or ten years old. According to the Training Camp's rules, geniuses could not join after the age of seven. He had probably been in the camp for nearly three years.
"There isn't much to watch out for. There are only two things you need to pay attention to in the Training Camp!"
Yuan Xin turned his gaze toward Lu Yuan. "The first is training. Every day, the instructors set different training tasks for different trainees. No matter how difficult or grueling the task is, it must be completed. Otherwise, you'll be eliminated!"
"The second is the other trainees. In the Pride of Heaven Selection Tournament held every three years, only ten trainees are selected. So, in order to ensure their own advancement, many people band together and form factions specifically to target talented trainees and suppress their growth, ensuring that they themselves can qualify!"
"The Training Camp doesn't care about that?" Lu Yuan asked.
Yuan Xin sneered. "This is a world where the weak are prey to the strong. The Training Camp actually encourages this kind of behavior. As long as no one dies, it can't be bothered to interfere!"
"What factions are there in this Training Camp?" Lu Yuan asked.
Yuan Xin glanced at Lu Yuan. "I won't mention the smaller factions. There are four major powerful factions! The strongest is Wind Hall. Its leader is Lin Feng, whose Martial Soul is the Nether Leopard. He's ten this year, a level twenty-two agility-type Soul Grandmaster. He has no fewer than twenty Soul Masters under him, and his faction ranks first in overall strength."
"Next is Nether Gate. Its leader is Yan Xiang, whose Martial Soul is the Azure Lightning Divine Elephant. He's ten this year, a level twenty-one Soul Grandmaster. He has more than ten Soul Masters under him, ranking second."
"Then there's Qin Sect. Its leader is Qin Yuan, whose Martial Soul is the Hellfire Demon Wolf Spirit. He's ten this year, a level twenty-one Soul Grandmaster. He has over ten Soul Masters serving under him and ranks third."
"Lastly, there's Smoky Orchid Hall. Its leader is Feng Yuyan, whose Martial Soul is the Purple Smoky Orchid. She's ten years old and a level twenty-one Soul Grandmaster. Smoky Orchid Hall only recruits female members and ranks fourth in overall strength."
"I'm a member of Nether Gate. For the sake of being roommates, if you're willing, I can introduce you to Nether Gate," Yuan Xin said.
"Thank you for the invitation, but I won't join any faction," Lu Yuan said with a smile.
"Are you sure? If newcomers don't have a faction to protect them, they'll be bullied by many people. You don't think you can walk around acting untouchable just because you have a strong background, do you? The Training Camp is a place where strength matters."
"Of course not!" Lu Yuan smiled. "Since I've entered the Training Camp, everyone here is my competitor. As for those who want to cause trouble, let them come. I'm not someone to be pushed around!"
"You're very confident. I hope your strength is as solid as you claim!" Yuan Xin shook his head. Everyone who could enter the Training Camp was a genius, and geniuses had always been arrogant.
Newcomers like Lu Yuan, who had just entered the Training Camp, were all reckless fools who feared neither heaven nor earth, including Yuan Xin himself in the past. But only after they were taught a lesson by the other trainees did they understand how vast the world truly was.
Yuan Xin felt that once Lu Yuan was thoroughly beaten, he would understand that the little bit of strength he took pride in was utterly insignificant in the Training Camp. By then, he would learn to behave.
What Yuan Xin did not know was that such thinking only applied to ordinary trainees. Lu Yuan had never been ordinary. To Yuan Xin, the trainees in the Training Camp might be formidable, but in Lu Yuan's eyes, they were no different from chickens and dogs.
Once he learned that the strongest trainee in the Training Camp was merely a level twenty-two Soul Grandmaster, Lu Yuan lost interest in them. He had even killed high-level Evil Soul Master Soul Grand Masters, let alone these so-called geniuses from the Training Camp.
What interested him more was the Genius Training Camp's training methods. He hoped they would not disappoint him.
