March 3rd, 1988, the sixteenth day of the first lunar month.
After the Lantern Festival, Light Vehicle Company employees discovered a notice posted on the bulletin board when they came to work. Then several thousand people exploded into an uproar.
First Branch Factory was finally transferring workers from the main factory again, moving eight hundred workers over at once to bolster the production lines currently being adjusted and installed.
"Me! My name's on the list! Hahaha, I'm going to First Branch Factory next week!"
"Damn it, why were you picked? Tell us honestly—who did you bribe?"
Those selected for transfer to First Branch Factory received the envy, jealousy, and resentment of their friends, while those who had not been transferred inevitably became agitated.
"Eight hundred people? Why only eight hundred? They already have over three thousand people producing just the 130 model, and they've brought in two advanced technology projects. Shouldn't they need five or six thousand workers?"
"Could it be like last year again? Recruiting some workers from society, then adding some of the factory employees' children?"
"That doesn't add up either! Even splitting it three ways, they should transfer two thousand people from our side! Why are there only eight hundred?"
"I don't think that's right either. If they were recruiting employees' children, how could there not have been even a whisper? Are they going to let the rich water flow into outsiders' fields this time?"
"Come on, let's go ask the Personnel Department. Let's all go together. The law does not punish the masses—they have to give us an explanation.
"I've devoted twenty-eight years to this unit. They kept saying the good days were ahead, and now the good days are right in front of us. Why should they be handed to outsiders?"
