The next instant, every Sea Clan warrior rushing toward Chen Cheng and the others turned and swam away like mad, as though they had seen something terrifying.
Sifite's gaze sharpened. She pointed at the sea before them.
"The sea."
At her words, Chen Cheng leaped up, ready to dive in and find a way to intercept whatever danger was coming from below.
Ireland swiftly switched her Magic Rifle to an area-attack mode and pulled the trigger at the water.
But just as Chen Cheng tried to dive in, he struck the sea as though it were solid ground and bounced back.
"Are you an idiot? Sifite meant the sea itself. That woman woke it up. Have you finished repairing the array down there? We need to get ready to run."
Ireland kept pulling the trigger, blasting apart each swell that rose from the sea as she spoke to Chen Cheng.
Chen Cheng had not expected that. He threw a punch and found that the sea before him was no longer ordinary water. It seemed to have gained a will of its own, gathering deliberately to block the force he unleashed.
"Not yet. The core still isn't fully repaired. And even if it were, I'm afraid we couldn't escape."
For despite their efforts to destroy the rising swells, the sea awakened before Liphia could kill the Demon Whale.
A thick barrier of seawater blocked Liphia's Flame Roar. Under the immense heat, the water wall rapidly boiled and evaporated.
But the sea's waters were endless. In the end, she only managed to scald the Demon Whale half to death.
