By the time Chen Cheng said those words, even he could scarcely believe they had come from his own mouth. Only then did he realize something had gone wrong with his state of mind.
Damn it, this guy affected me. Looks like he wasn't as innocent as he claimed.
Chen Cheng showed nothing on his face, merely putting on a stunned and dejected expression. Inwardly, however, he raised several levels of alertness toward the system.
After hearing Chen Cheng's words, the system controlled the robot and shook its head.
"It is not about destroying the world, but saving it.
"Do you still remember the Doomsday Codex, the one said in legends to bring about a world-ending calamity? My database contains only a very small portion of its data. That thing was a World Core discovered by humans of the Ancient Era within a mutated world.
"I do not know what modifications humanity made to it. I only know that whoever controls the Codex will become the absolute ruler of the world."
"So you don't know what the Codex is either?"
Although Chen Cheng had long harbored his suspicions, he still wanted to draw some information out of the system.
"I do not know, because it has nothing to do with my world. Treasures nurtured by such Transcendent powers do not exist here, and this portion of the information has also been blocked by the Main System. I cannot access it.
"However, according to the pre-established program, because of your early actions, the Codex should also appear ahead of schedule and, someday in the future, bring about a catastrophe on the scale of world destruction."
"Since you already know the Codex exists, do you think the God of Light would not find and control it ahead of time?"
Chen Cheng gradually
