The laboratory doors opened, and Moka switched on the lights.

Bonawa looked at the brightly glowing bulb. Though he had long understood the principle behind illumination and had even performed this sort of experiment more than three times, every time he saw the light come on, an inexplicable thrill still stirred in his heart.

Seeing Bonawa staring at the bulb, Moka prepared the experimental materials and said with a smile:

"Actually, I was just like you. When I first saw those people make this glowing bulb, it felt unreal to me for a long time.

"After all, in our understanding, light came only from flames and magic—not from a wire, a specified voltage, and this tiny little thing, after which it simply lit up."

"But I have to say, science truly is a very interesting field. Looking at it through the knowledge of modern science, many of the seemingly mysterious spells we once used actually have explanations."

Bonawa stepped forward to help Moka prepare the equipment, speaking as he worked:

"Then, Teacher, what kind of relationship do you think magic and science will have in the future? In the world of science, the world is composed of fundamental matter, and through experiments, we can observe the laws governing the transformations between those substances, then make use of those laws.

"But in the world of magic, this world is governed by gods. All the rules were designed by the gods long ago, and we merely need to live according to their guidance."

Moka had not expected someone as young as Bonawa to think so deeply.

He carried a bag of bitter almond powder onto the laboratory bench, then said:

"Actually, if you think about it the other way around, there is no contradiction between the two."
