Not long after the three returned to the courtyard, Chen Cheng heard a burst of noise from the neighboring courtyard where the Church elder was staying.

They had been there less than a day, but Chen Cheng had already noticed that the Church people next door kept to themselves. Apart from their morning and evening lessons, the only activity came when servants from White Elegance Residence delivered their meals.

In the small courtyard where the Church party was staying, Sgert wore a suit of divine armor with a sword at his waist. The authority he exuded was nothing like that of the young captain of the guard who had once followed Jamir around.

Elder Keqin glanced up at Sgert, then said:

"Captain Sgert, mind your words. Jamir is now the greatest heretic and traitor. He has no connection to the Church anymore, so he is no longer your teacher.

"And we have come to find the divine envoy not to obstruct him from spreading God's teachings, but to seek a way to track down the heretic Jamir.

"After all, the divine envoy once taught him. A link of divine power exists between them."
