As the great fog brought Outer Domain forces and Mist Beasts into Wangyue Commandery, Song Changming fought to protect its people and searched for the Corpse Refining Sect’s role in his brothers’ fate. He helped drive off the invaders, left the fog with Su Qingqing, and learned that he had entered the Heavenly Ranking as Great Han’s political upheaval continued.

• Song Changming investigated the spreading Scorching Mist, rescued people from Mist Beasts, and warned Wangyue Commandery’s leaders that powerful Outer Domain cults were invading.
• Liu Xiangnan and Zhao Dongming returned from the Ancient Abyss Kingdom, and Song Changming defeated Li Pu in a saber challenge before joining the fight in the fog.
• Song Changming killed Liu Yuan and rescued Nan Chenguang from a Corpse Refining Sect attack, then learned that the Black-eyed Corpse Puppet Song Bao had been his childhood friend.
• Song Changming pursued the Corpse Refining Sect while searching for Liu Yan’er, and Su Qingqing followed him after he learned she had been abducted from the Ancient Abyss Kingdom.
• Ding Yanyun revealed that Song Changming’s two elder brothers may have been taken as corpse materials, so Song Changming killed him and sought Li Jinyu’s help uncovering their fate.
• Song Changming used Mist Gold to control the Cloud Mist Whale and turn its parasitic beasts against the Outer Domain forces, helping Great Han’s fighters rout the invaders.
• Song Changming carried the exhausted Su Qingqing out of the receding fog and agreed to let her remain with him, while Wangyue Pavilion’s defenders recovered and the mist cleared.
• Months later, Song Changming learned that Gu Wenhui had captured three commanderies and that he had entered the Heavenly Ranking in eighty-fifth place, ahead of Nan Chenguang.

Song Changming trained Su Qingqing, became embroiled in a struggle over the Chu family's hidden martial art, and traveled with Nan Wuji and Su Yaoguang to seek a route into the Ancient Abyss Kingdom. After recruitment there proved out of reach because of his impure blood Qi, he returned to find Great Han falling and prepared to leave again with Li Jinyu and Su Qingqing.

• Song Changming trained Su Qingqing in body-tempering and swordsmanship, then advanced to the Qi Cultivation Fifth Layer after consuming Sky Net Fruits.
• Song Changming uncovered the Zhengyang Art hidden in two paintings, defeated Nan Chenguang, sparred with Nan Wuji, and agreed to explore the Outer Domain with him and Su Yaoguang.
• Song Changming and his companions crossed the great fog, discovered the Bottomless Abyss, and fought off Gluttonous Beasts before traveling to Dragon Gate Ridge.
• At Dragon Gate Ridge, Nan Wuji and Su Yaoguang joined Spirit Sword Mountain, but recruiters rejected Song Changming after identifying his impure blood Qi and Water Aspect Flood Dragon Body.
• Song Changming returned to Wangyue Commandery, where Li Jinyu gave Liu Dingsheng a Longevity Pill and agreed to accompany Song on a future journey.
• Ding Shengyu took Nan Wuji and Su Yaoguang across the Bottomless Abyss as King Gu entered Yunling Imperial City and Gu Wenhui declared the Lai dynasty.
• Song Changming visited Yunling City with Li Jinyu and Su Qingqing, then decided to leave after the fall of Great Han, while Su Qingqing bought a sugar figurine depicting him.

Song Changming destroyed the Outer Domain branch of the Corpse Refining Sect, survived the Four-Eyed Old Daoist’s attempt to refine him, and reached the Innate stage. He crossed the Bottomless Abyss with his companions and arrived in Maple City, where he began learning about the Ancient Abyss Kingdom and Su Qingqing’s possible family.

• After Liu Dingsheng died, Song Changming buried him with Liu Ziwen and Liu Yan'er, then decided to continue his journey toward the Abyss.
• Song Changming killed Xu Baishu and later destroyed the Corpse Refining Sect’s Outer Domain branch, defeating its Green-Eyed Corpse Puppet and rescuing its prisoners.
• Song Changming crossed the Abyss using Flying Talismans, fought through its Gluttonous Beasts, and traveled across the Red Soil Continent toward the Ancient Abyss Kingdom.
• The Four-Eyed Old Daoist captured Song Changming and tried to refine him into a divine pill, but Song Changming died in the cauldron and revived through Nirvana Rebirth with a Blue-grade Immaculate Body.
• Song Changming upgraded the Zhengyang Art, completed the Qi Refining Realm, and broke through to the Innate stage before destroying the Three Immortals Gu Cult.
• Song Changming and his companions crossed the Abyss and entered the Ancient Abyss Kingdom, where they rescued Meng Jianli’s convoy from a Mountain-Moving Rat.
• Meng Jianli told Song Changming that the Four-Eyed Old Daoist was Day Heavenly Master and that the Longevity Su Clan might be the family Su Qingqing sought.
• Song Changming and his companions reached Maple City, where he sensed sword intent in the gate inscription and discovered the walls drew on the citywide protective force.

Song Changming established himself in the Yunzhou army, found his elder brothers among the Corpse Refining Sect’s corpse puppets, and helped them become zombie men through the Corpse Transformation Method. After returning to military duty, he learned of an important martial competition that the Flag Lord would attend.

• Song Changming left Maple City with Su Qingqing, found a five-thousand-year-old Ginseng Spirit, and helped Su Qingqing learn that she was the daughter of Su Fengye and Yan Xue before she departed to find her mother.
• Song Changming bought a Spirit Locking Talisman at Cuibai Main City, joined Xing Tiexin’s army as deputy general, and broke through to his second Earthly Martial Meridian while guarding a Spirit Crystal mine.
• Song Changming and Fu Yuan fought off a spider demon attack, then Song Changming killed Hu Yan’s Corpse Refining Sect companions and captured Hu Yan among the spider nest’s Spirit Crystals.
• Song Changming learned from Hu Yan that the Corpse Refining Sect held corpse puppets resembling his elder brothers, Song Changping and Song Chang'an, and found them while confronting Lou Baoqiu.
• Song Changming freed his brothers from Lou Baoqiu’s control, killed Hu Yan, and traveled with them to an ancient tomb, where they fought corpse men and uncovered a stone fragment.
• Song Changming studied the Corpse Transformation Method and the Witch Clan’s Sorcery Refining Method, then helped Song Changping and Song Chang'an transform into zombie men.
• Song Changping and Song Chang'an chose to return to Great Lai to see their family from afar, while Song Changming returned to Cuibai Way and resumed his military duties under Xing Tiexin.
• Xing Tiexin announced an important martial competition attended by the Flag Lord and ordered his officers to gather the Centurions.
