Background
The Spirit Pagoda built the Spirit Ascension Platform to research artificial Soul Spirits. Its attempt to raise their level worked only partially: the effect was uncertain and not especially pronounced. The Pagoda subsequently developed the platform into a training ground where Soul Masters could fight soul beasts with limited danger 36.
Its original construction involved more than ten Titled Douluos and numerous researchers. Eighteen platforms exist across the continent, in major cities; the Spirit Pagoda branches housing them are called the Federation’s Eighteen Sky Towers 36.
Entry and Training
- Entrants lie in metal capsules while instruments scan them. Inside, a distress-signal device allows withdrawal 36 75.
- The platform places entrants in a space resembling another world, where they can fight simulated soul beasts and gain practical combat experience. The platform protects entrants, but destruction of an entrant’s body can still cause mental backlash 36 147.
- Entrants need not arrive together. Qian Gu Die Ting’s first test for Qian Gu Huang Yu required her to find Qian Gu Dong Feng after entry and survive as long as possible 36.
- The Junior platform excludes Soul Masters who have passed level forty. The Intermediate platform serves levels forty through sixty-nine 75.
- Tickets are difficult for ordinary Soul Masters to obtain; anyone with a ticket can enter 6 98.
Soul Spirit Growth and Soul Beasts

- Simulated soul beasts retain the habits of their real counterparts. Most non-guardian beasts are randomly generated 43 180.
- Guardians are exceptionally powerful beasts made using soul spirits or soul bones. A defeated guardian may leave a Soul Spirit or Soul Bone, but a Soul Bone drop is not guaranteed 42 98.
- Repeated guardian deaths damage the platform’s ecosystem and raise its maintenance costs 173.
Riot Periods
The platform has two riot periods each year. Soul beasts become more numerous and active, increasing the danger to entrants. The extended absorption time also leaves Soul Masters vulnerable to attacks from other entrants while collecting spiritual energy 75.
Headquarters Platform
The Spirit Pagoda headquarters platform originally simulated the Star Dou Great Forest as it had been ten thousand years earlier 80. After repeated guardian deaths, Qian Gu Die Ting ordered the headquarters platforms changed to swamps. The Spirit Pagoda expanded a new region onto the existing platform rather than destroying the old one 173 174.
- The swamp introduced mist, waterways, small islands and aquatic soul beasts, making the environment itself a hazard 172 174.
- Qian Gu Die Ting also increased the strength of its soul beasts. Some entrants were eliminated before they could regain consciousness or begin training 174.
- Shrek Academy stopped sending students after the overhaul, and other visitors also stayed away. Headquarters platform revenue fell by half 174.
- Following complaints, the Spirit Pagoda raised the spiritual-energy reward and added a relatively safe rest area whose location entrants had to discover 174.
Notable Events
- Forest Mammoth guardian: Qian Gu Huang Yu and Qian Gu Dong Feng defeated it; it left a Forest Mammoth Soul Spirit, later used by Dong Feng 42 98.
- Star Sea Wandering Dragon guardian: Its rampage displaced soul beasts and eliminated many teams during a riot period. Huang Yu later obtained its External Soul Bone 98 101.
- Dark Demon Evil God Tiger: Huang Yu subdued a generated beast rather than killing it. Her subsequent research addressed how to turn platform beasts into Soul Spirits and bring them outside 180 184 185.
- Advanced platform collapse: After Huang Yu fused with the Gold-Silver Blue Demon Birds, a section of the platform collapsed. She suggested that her absorption of plane fragments may have removed what supported it; Qian Gu Die Ting considered that possible 472 474 475.
