John's gloomy voice drifted over, and the Ryugu King froze just as he was about to rush out.
He understood that if he charged over recklessly, the royal consort would lose her value as leverage. With how ruthless these humans were, they would kill her immediately. That was something he could not accept.
"What do you want?"
The Ryugu King spoke in a deep voice. It was a foolish question, but he asked it anyway.
Clang! Clang! John drew his twin blades and fixed the Ryugu King with a sharp gaze. "Of course, I'm going to kill you right here!"
The Ryugu King's expression hardened. Understanding Rocks' plan, he immediately shouted, "Soldiers, notify everyone on the island at once! Leave Fish-Man Island and hide in the deep sea, quickly!"
"Heh heh." John chuckled and turned to Monk Sanlong and the others. "Go deal with those soldiers. If all the mermaids escape, wouldn't all that wealth be gone?"
"Understood!" Monk Sanlong and the others answered in unison before charging at the soldiers.
Yet the soldiers did not obey the Ryugu King's order to leave. They stood there silently, looking at him. The leading soldier spoke first. "King! We're strong fighters. We can help you."
Clearly, they could not bring themselves to abandon their king and flee.
Unfortunately, the Ryugu King did not understand their heartfelt loyalty. What they received was an angry roar.
"Are you defying my orders?! Hurry up and notify everyone to leave Fish-Man Island!"
"But..." The leading soldier wanted to express his concern for his king once more, but then he saw the Ryugu King rushing toward him at terrifying speed. Instantly sensing something was wrong, he stopped speaking.
"Don't even think about running, Ryugu King. Your woman is still in my hands!" John
