Finally, after more than nine months, they crossed the Calm Belt and arrived at Roger's hometown.
Soon after, Rayleigh and the others would receive a piece of devastating news here.

In a hospital room in Loguetown, Roger, who was sitting on the bed and drinking, suddenly coughed several times.
"Roger, don't drink when you're sick!" Rayleigh shook his head helplessly. This was far from the first time.
Only he and Gaban were in the room, both standing before the hospital bed.
As they watched the man who refused to lie down and would only sit on the bed, they felt both exasperated and heavy-hearted.
The man had contracted an unknown illness, and it was already beginning to flare up.
"Yeah! Roger, you can't take this lightly," Gaban said worriedly as he watched the situation.
How many heroes and great men had ultimately been defeated by illness?
They did not want Roger to contract some terminal disease so early.
They had come to the town hospital because even their ship's doctor had been unable to figure out Roger's illness.
They only hoped the hospital records might contain a similar case and lead to a treatment.

Roger paid Rayleigh and the others no mind. After laughing, he took several more gulps of wine, then set down the bottle and smiled at Rayleigh and Gaban.
