A secret?
Noah found it rather strange. This might be a secret to you, but to me, it really wasn't much of a secret, was it, Mr. Potter?
Noah knew the plot inside out. How could he not know why Harry had come to ask about Meller?
Honestly, there was nothing wrong with Harry coming to ask them. You could even say he had come to the right people.
Unfortunately, aside from himself and Hermione, Evan, Kate, and Luns were all extremely interested in this so-called secret of his!
It was obvious that if Harry refused to tell them, they had no intention of telling him anything either!
Seeing Harry's face full of embarrassment and distress, wanting both to leave immediately and to see whether there might still be a turning point, Noah found it quite amusing.
Harry had been adorable as a child. It was a shame that he had turned out so badly after growing up. Noah did not mind teasing young Harry a little.
Rubbing his chin, Noah suddenly said, "Actually, the so-called secret you have might not be much of a secret to us at all, Harry."
"Hm?" Harry looked at Noah strangely. I know you're impressive, but surely you can't guess what I'm thinking from just a name, can you?
"Noah, did you think of something?" Hermione also looked curiously at Noah beside her.
"I thought of a few things. We are all familiar with Nicholas Meller. Everyone knows about his achievements, right?"
"Of course. He was an extraordinary man."
"Then let's suppose that his greatest creation is at Hogwarts. Wouldn't that make Harry's so-called secret easier to understand?"
"God! How is that possible?"
Following Noah's words, Kate immediately thought of many things!
What was Meller's greatest creation?
It was the Philosopher's Stone, a stone that could grant eternal life!
But if that thing was kept at Hogwarts, wouldn't Nicholas Meller basically be committing suicide?
"There's nothing impossible about it. Do you remember the night we dealt with the troll? Professor Snape seemed to have something wrong with his foot, didn't he?"
Noah did not care much about that and began explaining directly. The thought I've been here so long without spoiling the plot—I've really been a failure lingered in his mind, so he did not mind saying it aloud and teasing little Harry while he was at it.
"That's true. There was something off about the way he walked." Evan thought back and nodded, while Kate and the others recalled it as well.
"I took a look at the time. There were bite marks and blood, and the force had been considerable. Something that could injure Professor Snape like that should have been a large canine. Of course, it could also have been because Professor Snape was in a hurry. Otherwise, with his ability, there was no way he would have been bitten by a dog."
"God, it was the Three-headed dog!"
Based on Noah's account, Hermione immediately remembered something. "Harry and I once had the terrible luck of running into a problem with the stairs. We ended up in the Forbidden Corridor, and then, to avoid Filch, we entered a room. There was a Three-headed dog in that room!"
"Wow, cool! Hermione, I never knew you had an experience like that."
Evan smiled from the side, but when he noticed Hermione's displeased expression, his face immediately turned serious. "Noah, if I remember correctly, Three-headed dogs are used to guard treasures. Could it be...?"
"Mm-hm, that's right. The troll's appearance was probably man-made. Professor Snape had clearly noticed it, and he might also have been one of the people guarding the 'treasure.' That was why he hurried over to check whether anything had happened to it. Unfortunately, he was in too much of a rush, so he got bitten."
"Why couldn't he have been trying to steal that 'treasure'?" Harry asked at that moment.
Honestly, Harry was already numb. He had been frightened when Noah first mentioned Snape's injured foot. By the time Evan said the Three-headed dog guarded a treasure, he had already gone blank. And when Noah said Snape had rushed over to check on the treasure and been bitten, he was completely numb.
What kind of monsters were these people?
He had spent so much time and energy, read who knew how many books in the Library, and thought about it for so long before finally managing to pry a few clues out of Hagrid!
Yet when it came to them, they had analyzed everything in just a few sentences. Was I really that stupid?
As for why they were defending Professor Snape, that made him uncomfortable. Didn't they watch Quidditch?
Didn't they know Professor Snape had nearly gotten him killed?
Well, perhaps they really did not watch Quidditch.
"Suspecting your professor isn't a good thing. Of course, it can't be ruled out either. After all, I heard he used to be a Death Eater." Noah shrugged. As for exactly what kind of person Snape was, Noah could not be bothered to say more.
"Noah, do you mean that person wanted to steal this 'treasure'?" After pondering for quite a while, Kate seemed to understand.
"Maybe. Although I didn't grow up in the wizarding world, I'm good at every subject, so I've learned quite a lot. Haven't there been rumors all this time that that person is going to return?"
"Wow, that isn't good news."
After hearing Noah, the entire atmosphere immediately became somewhat heavy.
Clearly, they had all thought of some unpleasant possibilities. But they quickly relaxed again. Their headmaster was Professor Dumbledore, after all, a great White Wizard!
Besides, they were students. Speculating about all that nonsense was not something they should be doing.
What they needed to do was study hard and work to improve their abilities. Only then could they gain a foothold in the future!
"Looks like we'll have to work even harder from now on." Luns suddenly smiled. For some reason, he seemed even more motivated.
"That's right. Maybe we can become heroes someday!" Evan smiled as well.
"Hmph, you lot? I'm clearly the strongest one besides Noah. If you want to become heroes, stand behind me first and wait until I've solved everything." Kate was not frightened either. He was just as fired up!
"What are you talking about?" Hermione asked in confusion. She truly did not understand any of this.
"We can talk about those things after we go back. We need to work hard too, Hermione." Noah smiled, then stood up and prepared to leave.
Kate and the others stood up as well. Clearly, they had no interest in continuing their meal.
The information Noah had revealed today was indeed shocking, but it had not discouraged any of them.
They believed that, with advance preparation, they would not fall short!
"Hey, wait!" Harry immediately grew anxious as he watched the group leave. He still had no idea what had happened. "Who is that person? And what is this treasure you're talking about?"
"Idiot!" Luns rolled his eyes. "That person is that person. Figure it out yourself! He has some connection to you too. And as for that treasure? Just how badly are you doing in your studies? That thing is called the Philosopher's Stone!"
