When Noah and the other two arrived at the classroom, the entire room was already packed.
Charms Class was a kind of course similar to an open lecture, basically gathering together all the students of the same year.
But unlike the usual rule that open lectures were mostly electives, this kind of course was basically compulsory, and the credits were rather high too.
Following Evan and the others, Noah quickly found the area where the Ravenclaw students were seated. Come to think of it, this was their first collective class.
The first two months had basically been for the new students to properly adapt to this brand-new environment. After all, Hogwarts was so huge that finding the right way everywhere was no easy task.
Not to mention that many of the new students were Muggle-born, such as Harry and Hermione, so the school had to take their situation into consideration as well.
So the first two months had basically been about letting these new students come into contact with some basic knowledge to lay a certain foundation for them. Now that everyone had more or less adapted, naturally it was time for some more advanced classes.
Clearly, in everyone's eyes, Charms Class was an advanced course.
No matter how powerful a wizard you were, you couldn't do without charms. Not knowing how to use charms was basically the same as losing magic; even if you were holding a wand, it was no different from an ordinary wooden stick.
Professor Filius Flitwick had to stand on a stack of books. He was extremely short, and only that way could he reach the lectern, but no one dared laugh at Professor Flitwick.
His level of magic was extremely superb, though he did look somewhat comical, especially when he called Harry Potter's name during roll call and got so excited that he fell off the pile of books.
But who could have imagined that this somewhat comical-looking professor would one day be the man who defeated the heinous Death Eater Antonín Dolohov!
"If only he weren't so excited."
Evan watched this scene with an expression that said he could hardly bear to look. Kate and Luns looked about the same; in fact, the expressions of all the Ravenclaw students were quite speechless.
The few of them were sitting in a relatively middle position, because they had arrived rather late and there were no seats near the front left.
Still, this way they would neither draw too much attention nor be so far back that they couldn't see clearly. Noah rather liked it here.
"Maybe he's just emotional? I heard he's naturally sensitive?" Noah rubbed his chin and said quietly.
"He is indeed very emotional. It's just a little embarrassing, isn't it?" Luns shook his head helplessly.
"All right, guys, stop talking. Class is about to start." In the end, it was Kate who spoke up and interrupted them.
Indeed, Professor Flitwick had already quickly finished taking attendance.
Although there were many people, this was not the Sorting after all. In addition, the students were all very cooperative, so it only took a few minutes for roll call to end, and they officially began class.
In Charms Class, much of the content actually required students to practice for themselves. Because when a charm was placed before you, you might know how to read it and how to coordinate with your wand to mobilize your magic, but if you did not try it yourself, it was still just armchair theorizing.
However, probably out of consideration for the new students, Professor Flitwick spent half the class emphasizing the importance of Charms Class to them, then publicly demonstrated Viper-id, Reparo, and Accio.
Only at the end did Professor Flitwick begin teaching them how to cast "Wingardium Leviosa," a spell that allowed objects to remain suspended in midair for a few seconds, as well as the techniques for channeling magic.
To be honest, Noah listened to the first half with some genuine interest, and when Professor Flitwick demonstrated the charms, he even made a point of watching carefully.
But when it came to the practical step, Noah seemed rather uninterested.
Noah really was not unfamiliar with the Levitation Charm. He had long since gone through these charms in the Compendium of Tricks; it could even be said that Noah used these charms quite excellently.
So when it came to the practical part, Noah instead had little interest.
"What's wrong, Noah? Why don't you give it a try?" Evan quickly noticed Noah's abnormal behavior and asked in a low voice.
While everyone else was holding their wands and working hard at the feather on the table, only this guy sat there with his head propped up, spacing out, no one knew what he was thinking about. How could that not attract attention?
"Huh? Nothing. I was just going over the key points Professor Flitwick mentioned earlier." Noah quickly came back to himself, then smiled indifferently.
If I really did it, I'm afraid you'd all be stunned, wouldn't you?
Noah smiled inwardly, but he honestly took out his wand. He did not want to make himself seem too different; that would not be good.
His wand was not anything especially impressive, though of course it was not to the point of being like Ron's, which had been handed down from his brother.
Nine inches long, made of nanmu and the nerve of a Siberian white wolf. It was very mysterious, but not rare, the kind of wand that could not be called good but was not bad either.
When Noah had bought his wand, there had been no situation where he had tried for ages and could not find a suitable one. He had basically succeeded on the first try, practically no different from some random passerby.
Shaking his head, Noah was just planning to casually muddle through for now when a figure suddenly appeared in front of his desk, nearly startling him.
"Mr. Phileas, have you run into some trouble?" Professor Flitwick looked at Noah with a kind smile on his face. It was obvious that he had also noticed Noah's actions just now.
"Uh, I don't think I have any problem." Noah spoke a little awkwardly, and what made him feel even more awkward was that it seemed all the students present had turned to look at him.
There was no helping it. Although Professor Flitwick was not some tall and handsome figure, his superb charm techniques and the reputation he had built over so many years made it impossible for him not to draw the students' attention.
Especially now, when many students were still unable to properly produce the effect of the charm, they naturally longed even more to receive Professor Flitwick's guidance.
"Oh? Is that so? What do you think of this charm?" Professor Flitwick's expression remained kind. He had indeed come over to check on the situation after seeing Noah spacing out.
Noah was a student of his house, so he naturally knew about Noah's circumstances. It was precisely because Noah was Muggle-born that he paid extra attention to him. It could be said that Professor Flitwick was a very good professor who cared deeply for his students.
"It isn't especially difficult. As long as you pay attention to some details and control your magic, it should be fine. I think someone should be able to manage it very soon, right?" Noah said somewhat uncertainly. He remembered that Hermione did indeed seem to manage it quite quickly.
"Oh, is that so?" Professor Flitwick was a little surprised, then asked with some uncertainty, "Then could you give it a try?"
Noah did not speak, but gently nodded. Although he did not particularly want to show off, he also did not mind letting others know that he was actually rather outstanding.
This kind of contradictory mentality was more or less the same for everyone. Noah felt there was no need for him to play dumb. Since Professor Flitwick wanted to see it, then he might as well put on a proper performance.
"Maybe there'll even be some benefits in the future."
He gently waved his wand, and the awkward yet simple incantation quickly left Noah's mouth. Under the incredulous gazes of all the students, the feather on Noah's desk slowly floated up, then hovered quietly in midair.
