Ruby led Anna to the ecological exhibition area on the second floor. It had been remodeled to simulate Blue Star's environment, complete with lawns and streams, and a dozen or so Gurgle Beast cubs played inside.
Anna was immediately captivated. She let go of Ruby's hand and crouched down to pet the cubs, her face full of delight.
Behind them, Lu Feng and Zhou Kai stood ten meters away, fully armed.
Lu Feng surveyed their surroundings and asked quietly,
"Old Zhou, have you confirmed the presence of an Energy Barrier?"
Beside him, Zhou Kai nodded slightly, though a faint smile played across his face.
"There is one, but we've confirmed that the museum is testing its defense system while there are fewer visitors today. Relax. This is the inner city, and Miss Ruby is one of the shareholders here. Nothing will happen."
At this point, he paused and glanced at the outer guards stationed beyond the windows.
"Those outer guards are just being oversensitive. Don't worry too much about it. As long as the two of us stay alert, that'll be enough. Besides, we have her here too."
"You're right." Lu Feng nodded, but he still felt that the timing was a little too convenient.
Why had the museum chosen today, of all days, to test its energy shielding?
Maybe it really is just a coincidence.
Shaking his head slightly, Lu Feng stopped dwelling on it.
Ruby stood off to the side with her arms folded, watching Anna play with the Gurgle Beasts. The smile on her face slowly faded, replaced by cold indifference.
She raised a hand and gently pressed the Communicator at her ear, whispering in a voice only she could hear.
"The target is in position. You may begin."
