Wu Liang absorbed some of Kurama’s Chakra and gained Nine-Tails Mode, then began helping Tsunade awaken her Sage Body as a path toward Wood Release. Tsunade’s Strength of a Hundred Seal activated during the process and helped awaken the bloodline seeds.

• Tsunade finished awakening her Sage Body, and Wu Liang encouraged her to try Wood Release; her first attempt produced only a blade of grass and two weak vines.
• Tsunade brought out the First Hokage’s notes, and Wu Liang used them to enter Sage Mode and study Wood Release secret techniques.
• Tsunade tried absorbing natural energy before she had mastered her Chakra, so Wu Liang stopped her before she was seriously harmed.

Wu Liang traveled to the Land of Waterfall to find the Seven-Tails Jinchuriki, Kaede, and obtain some of Chōmei's Chakra before Akatsuki captured her. After warning Kaede that Kakuzu and Hidan were coming for her, he headed toward the Land of Earth, leaving her to decide whether to flee.

• Wu Liang taught Little Lee taijutsu and later planned to seek the Five-Tails and Seven-Tails before Akatsuki captured them.
• Wu Liang obtained permission from Tsunade and traveled northwest with Kanna and Fei Ling toward the Land of Waterfall.

After returning to Konoha, Wu Liang discovered Sasuke was absorbing the Heavenly Cursed Seal’s power to strengthen his Sharingan. The Sound Four arrived to abduct Sasuke, and the chapter ended as Sasuke’s Great Fireball Technique forced Kidomaru to protect the group with his Curse Mark.

• Wu Liang returned to Konoha with Kanna and Fei Ling after training with Han and Rōshi in the Land of Earth.
