No matter what, Shien staying behind had already become a settled matter.
He did not want to explain himself either. The more he explained, the messier it became. No one believed him anyway, and if he kept explaining, he might get worked up and say the wrong thing, prompting some fierce little kitten to jump out and bite him again.
