Ever since Hank Pym had decided to take on Darren Cross, he had been screening potential helpers who could inherit his Ant-Man Suit. He soon settled on a man named Scott Lang.
This "master thief," Scott Lang, had a sense of justice, but he was no stickler for the rules. He also had people he cared about, and a string of troubles in his life had left him in need of a chance to turn things around.
Through a series of tests and maneuvers, Hank Pym successfully recruited Scott Lang as his helper, then put him through extensive training until he could use the Ant-Man Suit proficiently.
Once everything was ready, Hank Pym's original plan was to have Scott sneak into Pym Technologies, steal the Yellowjacket Suit, and delete all the data on pym particles stored there.
But because of Ultron and H.E.R.B.I.E., all the well-known security systems had undergone major upgrades. They might not necessarily stop an intrusion, but their response times had improved dramatically.
That made it difficult for Hank Pym to slip into Pym Technologies' security system undetected.
So Dr. Pym revised his plan.
While everyone gathered at the front of Pym Technologies for the presentation, Dr. Pym had Scott shrink down and sneak into the laboratories at the back.
There, he planted Collapse Bombs made using pym particles. Thanks to Dr. Pym's meticulous calculations, these bombs could destroy all of Pym Technologies' laboratories, including the pym particle data inside, without harming anyone else.
Then all he had to do was find a way to destroy the Yellowjacket Suit on display out front and deal with his treacherous protégé, Darren Cross.
But Hank Pym had never imagined Darren Cross would be so deranged. After the data was destroyed, Cross completely disregarded the other guests and attacked him
