On a rooftop not far from Burger King, Peter had already changed into his Spider Suit.
Since his crime detection system hadn't picked up any new incidents, Peter decided to visit Dr. Otto's laboratory first.
Leaping off the rooftop, Peter flicked a strand of webbing toward a nearby building as he always did.
But the arrow-like strand he remembered never appeared. Instead, an enormous web spread out right in front of him, and Peter, fresh off the rooftop, slammed headfirst into it.
"What's going on?!"
Thoroughly wrapped in his own web, Peter was utterly baffled. He had checked his Web-Shooters, and the mode hadn't changed!
Still falling, Peter hurriedly switched firing modes and flicked his arm again...
Another web spread out, plastering itself over Peter's face once more.
"Don't tell me the shooters are broken?!"
A fall from this height wouldn't kill him, but he would still get hurt, and it would definitely be painful!
Refusing to give up, Peter pressed the shooter twice more. After a third web appeared, the fourth shot finally produced a normal strand, and he narrowly managed to suspend himself in midair just before he hit the ground.
"Whew... that was close..."
Peter mentally wiped away a cold sweat. Thank goodness his Web-Shooters had suddenly started working again.
"Ah! It's Spider-Man!"
"What's wrong with him? Is he fighting someone?"
"Who cares! Take pictures! I'm posting this on Twitter to get more followers!"
The hubbub rising from below left Peter mortified.
