When Peter Parker swung his way to the vicinity of Osborn Tower, he found a gigantic lizard standing upright, wearing a white lab coat and slaughtering people in a frenzy.
The New York police's meager firepower only sent a few sparks flying off the Lizard Monster's scales. It couldn't hurt him at all.
"Oh... no..."
Seeing the white lab coat on the Lizard Monster, Peter Parker was all but certain that this was Dr. Curt Connors.
"Stop it and make things right..."
Peter Parker recalled his earlier conversation with Dr. Connors, and resolve returned to his eyes. Swinging on a web, he straightened both legs and drove his feet hard into the giant lizard's head.
"Hey, big lizard! How about playing with me for a bit?"
The Lizard climbed out of a pile of broken glass, shook his head, and stared coldly at the weirdo in tights who had appeared before him.
"Spider-Man?"
After turning into a lizard, even Dr. Connors's voice had become cold and raspy.
"That's right, it's me." Peter Parker beckoned to the Lizard with a finger. "Want an autograph?"
"No! I'd rather turn you into a specimen and put you in my collection!"
The Lizard dropped onto all fours and scuttled up to Peter Parker like a reptile, slashing his sharp claws at Peter's face.
"Whoa!" Peter sidestepped the incoming claws, firing webs at the Lizard as he rattled off, "I'm not a fan of overly enthusiastic fans."
The webs that had always worked so well against ordinary criminals weren't much use against the Lizard's smooth scales and tremendous strength. Unless Peter fired enough webbing at once to restrain him completely, the Lizard could break free with ease.
And right now, the Lizard clearly wasn't about to sit still and let Spider-Man tie him up.
