After leaving the Chaos Market, the group followed the compass's guidance and the intelligence they had purchased, heading toward the legendary Chaos Altar. The closer they drew to their destination, the more chaotic the surrounding space became. They often had to pass through extremely unstable spatial rifts, greatly increasing the danger.
Several days later, they finally arrived in a relatively open stretch of void. At its center floated an unimaginably massive ancient altar, built from unknown black boulders.
The altar was circular and divided into nine tiers. Every tier was carved with densely packed, twisted, bizarre Chaos Runes that exuded a desolate, ancient, heart-palpitating aura. At the top of the altar was a sunken pool containing what seemed to be dried dark-red stains, as though some bloody sacrifice had once been performed there.
Countless massive stellar remnants and shattered landmasses floated around the altar, surrounding it like stars circling the moon and adding to its mystery and solemnity.
"So this is the Chaos Altar?" Li Wuyang stared at the magnificent yet sinister altar, deeply shaken. The aura it gave off was older and more powerful than any structure he had ever seen, faintly surpassing even the scope of the primordial era.
Once the compass reached this place, its needle spun wildly several times before pointing straight at the top of the altar. Then it fell still, as if its mission had been completed.
"Looks like the key is up there." Xuan gazed at the altar, light flowing through his heterochromatic eyes as though he were deciphering those Chaos Runes.
Just as they prepared to approach the altar for a closer investigation, the sound of something tearing through the air suddenly came from another direction!
Several powerful streaks of light shot over and landed on the other side of the altar,
