Background / History

Kudo Shinichi was a high-school detective before Gin drugged him at Tropical Land, causing his body to shrink into that of a child. He escaped, sought refuge with Professor Agasa, and adopted the name Edogawa Conan to conceal his identity from the Black Organization. 235

Shiraishi Kuro identified Conan as Shinichi almost immediately and learned the truth of his shrinking. Recognizing that the Black Organization could have informants within the police, Shiraishi agreed that Shinichi should remain hidden and arranged a fake disappearance using Shinichi's discarded clothes and dyed liquid at Tropical Land. 235

Conan began living under Ran Mouri's care, using his connection to her father, Mori Kogoro, as cover while continuing to pursue cases and investigate the Black Organization. Ran recognizes that Conan resembles Shinichi as a child but does not connect the two identities. 235 379
