Dragging the corpse of a wild wolf behind him, Lin Zhen returned to the cave.
He cut off a piece of meat and, before it had completely frozen stiff, ate it raw, tearing into the flesh and drinking the blood.
To survive, this little hardship was nothing to a Martial Artist.
Yet Lin Zhen's heart grew heavier and heavier. As he gnawed on the wolf meat, he could not even taste its stench.
His pressure did not come from the foul food, the cold, or his wounds, but from loneliness.
If this continued, his body would not last much longer. Yet Lin Zhen had not found any motivation that could keep him going.
He could not find fire here, nor any warm place where he could tend to his injuries. Chris estimated that he could survive for less than a month. If he wanted to hold on, he had to awaken the potential of life.
The potential of life was not so easily awakened. He needed something, some event, to give him strength. Lin Zhen understood that very clearly.
Night fell, and wolf howls once again echoed over the distant snowfields.
This night was especially long. Lin Zhen had even gnawed all the blood from the wolf's body, yet it was still dark outside.
Besides wolves and bears, there were also deer that ran incredibly fast across the snowfields, but Lin Zhen could not catch them. Only beasts like wolves, which attacked him on their own initiative, could possibly become his food.
On previous nights, the snowfields in the darkness were swept by howling gales and drifting snow, a place of unbearable cold. Lin Zhen could only curl up in one corner of the cave and shiver.
But this time, Lin Zhen did not want to remain in the cave.
