Insights into Taijutsu

If Guy kept up this kind of long-term, insane training, then even an utterly ordinary person, even someone without much talent, would only grow stronger and stronger. After all, this was the world of Naruto, where effort and reward were proportional.

Then look back at Guy. Several years earlier, he had been far inferior to Kakashi, but over those years, Guy had trained himself with self-torturing madness, allowing his strength to steadily improve. Sure enough, after several years, Guy finally caught up to Kakashi and became an Elite Jonin as well.
