"Your Majesty, you mean for us to control this region?" Aragorn asked, looking at the map in King Roland's hands.

"Didn't I say that long ago? This place will be handed over to you. Whether you restore the Northern Kingdom or the Kingdom of Arnor, that's up to you! We'll help you clear out the enemy forces along the way, and in the future, you'll need to garrison this place and keep the Great East Road open!" King Roland said, looking at Aragorn.

"Thank you, Your Majesty!" Aragorn let out a long breath. It seemed his late arrival had not changed King Roland's mind. This was already the best possible outcome!

"To get from Fengyun Peak to Bree, we have to pass through the Midgewater Marshes—Weak Water. This place is swarming with mosquitoes and insects. We're lucky it's winter now, and the marsh has already frozen over. If it were summer, we'd be in for real suffering!" King Roland's finger slid along the Great East Road and soon landed on a swamp marker on the map. A tiny skull had been drawn there, marking its dangerous status.

The Midgewater Marshes lay east of Bree. To its west was Chetwood, to its east the Weathertop Hills, and the Great East Road curved around the southern side of the swamp. The Midgewater Marshes were muddy and dangerous, with paths that appeared and vanished without warning, dense with reeds and grass. The air above was filled with clouds made up of tiny mosquitoes and insects, and in the grass bred a kind of bug that Samwise Gamgee had called the "Zigezhiga Bug" (the Hobbit Ring-bearer from the War of the One Ring). In the original work, the thing had merely been loud, but in the real world, it belonged to the very bottom
