"If I'd known it was this thing, I would've led you all in retreat toward Rivendell!" Lindir wailed as he looked back at the shadow chasing after them, dragging Apophis Breo along as he ran at full speed. Balin followed behind, panting heavily, his calves moving so fast they were practically leaving afterimages.

"What is going on? Why is the Witch-king of Angmar here?" Balin cried out as he fled. Behind him were Elf Rangers carrying longbows and gripping curved blades, mixed among them were members of the unseen Dwarf Skullcrusher Legion, and bringing up the rear were scattered human militiamen.

"Elves, cover the civilians!" Lindir shouted over his shoulder, then tightened his grip on Apophis Breo, who was trying to run back.

"Yes!" At the command, the elves slowed down and revealed the dwarves they had been shielding in their midst. Large numbers of human militiamen rushed past them, while the Elf Rangers frowned and watched the rear warily. Though those Valiant Warriors and Knights were holding the line behind them, no one knew how long they could last.

"Put me down! I'll live and die with my men! I still have forbidden spells!" Apophis Breo struggled beneath Lindir's arm.

"Save your strength! That's the Witch-king of Angmar, the strongest of the Nazgûl! Your forbidden spells are nothing to him! He can cast Grand Forbidden Spells!" Lindir had no time to listen to Apophis Breo's nonsense. He clamped down on him and continued running.

"I have Grand Forbidden Spells too! Put me down!" Apophis Breo roared.

"Do you really think you'd have a chance to tear open a Grand Forbidden Spell in front of him?" Lindir shot Apophis Breo a glance as though he were insane. At the Witch-king of Angmar's level, even using a forbidden spell scroll was
